A dump truck crashed into the legendary Whisky a Go Go music venue on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood yesterday afternoon. The incident forced the cancellation of a show by the rock band BOY HITS CAR. According to authorities, the truck was being loaded with dirt at a nearby construction site when its brakes apparently failed.
The out-of-control vehicle careened down Clark Street, narrowly missing pedestrians and other drivers before slamming into five vehicles and the brick exterior of the Whisky a Go Go. Witnesses described the chaotic scene. “I was running away from it all the way from the top of the hill.
The truck was chasing me, almost killing me,” one bystander said. Another witness, Evan Lindley, recounted, “We heard crazy crunching and squealing from up the hill… And then we saw the truck go through the gates there and smash through the cars, and it hit the building.”
Miraculously, no injuries were reported in the crash.

However, the truck struck a power pole, causing outages for approximately 1,400 customers in the area. Southern California Edison crews worked to restore electricity to the affected buildings.
The members of BOY HITS CAR were among those inside the Whisky a Go Go when the crash occurred. “One loud bang and the building moved,” said Anthony Reyes, who was present at the time. “So we were like, is this a huge earthquake?
Or what just happened?”
The band’s show, scheduled for that evening, was ultimately cancelled due to the incident. Craig Rondell from BOY HITS CAR remarked on the irony of the situation, saying, “It’s fitting to this band because it seems like something like this always happens. But, you just roll with it, it’s rock n’ roll.”
BOY HITS CAR announced plans to reschedule the performance and refund tickets for the cancelled show.
Coincidentally, the crash occurred on the same day the band released their new single, “Mind Elevation.”
As crews worked to clear the scene and restore power, the Whisky a Go Go remained hopeful about reopening for shows on Saturday. The iconic venue, known for hosting legendary acts like The Doors and Led Zeppelin, has stood as a landmark on the Sunset Strip since 1964.
