The actors are negotiating to star in “The Best Is Yet to Come,” a remake of a 2019 French movie. In the new film, Broderick and Ruck would play best friends who go on a road trip.

They aim to find the estranged son of one of the characters after a misunderstanding creates a sense of urgency. During the journey, they try to accomplish all the things that life has prevented them from doing. The movie is written by Allan Loeb and will be directed by Jon Turteltaub.

Dimitri Rassam, who produced the original French film, is set to executive produce.

Broderick and Ruck’s new journey

If the actors sign on, the movie is planned to start production in the summer.

Broderick and Ruck first met and became friends during a Broadway production of “Biloxi Blues.” They later starred together in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

In the 1986 film, Broderick played Ferris Bueller, a high school student who skips school for a day. Ruck played his best friend Cameron Frye, who reluctantly joins the adventure. The day turns disastrous for Cameron when his father’s expensive car is launched through a glass window.

Since “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” Broderick and Ruck have remained friends. They reunited on screen in the 1998 movie “Walking to the Waterline.”

Representatives for Broderick and Ruck have not yet commented on the potential new project. The film offers an exciting chance for fans to see the beloved duo together again in a new comedy adventure.
