Emma Ferrer, the granddaughter of Audrey Hepburn, attended an immersive art gallery experience in MediaCity, Salford Quays. The event featured moving projections of famous faces from the National Portrait Gallery’s collection. Ferrer expressed pride in her grandmother’s legacy.
“I am incredibly proud to be the granddaughter of Audrey Hepburn. She was a brilliant actress, a timeless icon, and a tireless crusader for the world’s underprivileged children,” she said. “I think she would have been humbled by this incredible artistic experience.”
The immersive gallery experience runs from 2nd May to 31st August 2025.
Immersed in family legacy
It combines the National Portrait Gallery’s portraits with graphics, narratives, and music to tell the stories of the individuals featured. Visitors are surrounded by art that brings these stories to life in a moving way.
One particularly impactful exhibit features Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist for girls’ education and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Other historical figures like Jane Austen and Winston Churchill are also included. “The National Portrait Gallery’s Collection is unique in being about people and for people,” said Victoria Siddall, Director of the National Portrait Gallery.
“The stories we tell about the individuals who have shaped our history and culture have the power to inspire and to bring people together.”
