The series finale of NBC’s drama “Found” left viewers with a shocking cliffhanger as Sir’s fate hung in the balance. In the episode titled “Missing While Dying,” Trent discovers Sir severely injured and bleeding in his cell. Meanwhile, Gabi makes a stunning confession to the world, admitting that she kidnapped Sir after he had abducted her as a child.
Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll reveals that Gabi’s confession was always part of the plan. “When I pitched the show, I knew Sir and Gabi’s twisted dynamic would climax with Gabi needing to confess to complete her healing journey,” Carroll explains. “Knowing her history, Gabi could not fully heal while hiding such a significant part of herself from the world.”
Gabi’s decision to reclaim her full name and publicly confess marks a pivotal moment in her character’s journey.
Carroll notes, “Gabi spent all of Season 1 trying to atone for her sins but felt thwarted at every turn. The weight of her past misdeeds prevented her from moving forward until she could openly admit what she’d done.”
However, Gabi is not expecting special treatment. “Gabi isn’t expecting leniency because of her good deeds or connections with the police.
She understands that her confession comes with consequences, and she’s ready to face them,” Carroll emphasizes.
Sir’s fate remains uncertain
As for Sir’s fate, it remains a mystery that would have unfolded gradually in a potential Season 3.
“Sir is always a few steps ahead, and while he had plans, he also made many enemies. His story and what happened to him would have slowly come to light,” Carroll teases. If the series had continued, characters like Mark-Paul and Dhan would have seen further development.
“Mark-Paul is very much part of any continuation of the story,” Carroll hints. For Dhan, Season 3 would have delved deeper into his past trauma, especially with the introduction of Mike. “Dhan has a journey to complete, including dealing with his past and his relationship with his husband,” she explains.
The relationship between Gabi and Trent remains a seesaw of emotions. “While there’s potential for a future together, both need to take personal journeys to be ready for it,” Carroll says. Carroll also addresses speculative scenarios, adding, “Of course, there could have been a scenario where Gabi might have had to take drastic measures to save lives, including possibly shooting Lena if the situation called for it.”
The series finale of “Found” leaves fans with unresolved questions and a deep curiosity about what could have unfolded in future seasons.
While these questions may remain unanswered on screen, the intricate character dynamics and compelling plot points have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on viewers.
