Fox has canceled the dramas “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” and “The Cleaning Lady” after their third and fourth seasons. The network waited until the current seasons had finished airing before making a final decision on these bubble shows. “Alert” wrapped up its third season on May 27, while “The Cleaning Lady” concluded its fourth season on June 3.
These cancellations are part of Fox’s overall strategy for the 2024-25 season. Both series were among the lower performers in the network’s rankings. “Alert” and “The Cleaning Lady” were co-productions with outside lead studios.
Sony Pictures TV was the lead studio for “Alert,” and Warner Bros. TV was the lead for “The Cleaning Lady.”
Fox explored potential retooling to continue “Alert” but ultimately decided to cancel it due to inadequate ratings. “The Cleaning Lady,” starring Élodie Yung, faced creative changes before its recent season.
This was due to the tragic passing of a cast member.
Fox cancels two dramas
While the show did not regain its initial momentum, it maintained a core fan base.
However, many storylines were left unresolved in its finale. “Alert: Missing Persons Unit” was set within the Philadelphia Police Department. It starred Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez as detectives leading a team to find missing persons.
The show featured a strong ensemble cast, including Adeola Role, Ryan Broussard, and Alisha-Marie Ahamed. Carla Kettner served as showrunner and executive producer. “The Cleaning Lady” focused on Thony De La Rosa, played by Élodie Yung.
Thony is a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon who becomes entangled with a criminal organization to provide for her family. The cast also included Martha Millan, Kate Del Castillo, and Santiago Cabrera. Despite their passionate fanbases, the two series will not return for future seasons on Fox.
This marks the end of their runs on the network.
