Jared Leto stars as Ares, an advanced computer program sent into the real world, in the upcoming film “TRON: Ares.” The first teaser trailer for the movie debuted at CinemaCon, showcasing stunning visuals and an electrifying soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails. Directed by Joachim Rønning, “TRON: Ares” serves as a standalone sequel to 2010’s “TRON: Legacy.” The trailer features light cycles racing through a modern city, with one even slicing a police car in half with a laser light wall. Greta Lee plays Eve Kim, a character caught in the collision between the digital and real worlds.
The trailer shows her fleeing from a menacing Recognizer looming over skyscrapers. The cast also includes Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Cameron Monaghan, Sarah Desjardins, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Gillian Anderson in undisclosed roles.

Jeff Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn from the original “TRON” film. While the trailer is light on plot details, the official premise states: “A highly sophisticated Program, Ares, is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with AI beings.”
Some fans are puzzled by the absence of characters from “TRON: Legacy,” such as Garrett Hedlund’s Sam Flynn and Olivia Wilde’s Quorra. It remains to be seen how “TRON: Ares” will connect to the previous films.
“TRON: Ares” is set to hit theaters on October 10, 2025, and will be available to stream on Disney+ at a later date. Fans eagerly await more details about the story and how it fits into the “TRON” universe.
