Jim Moir, also known as comedian Vic Reeves, will display his bird paintings at the Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. The exhibition, titled “Dawn to Dusk: Birds,” will feature about 45 of his works and run from June 14 to November 2. Moir developed a fascination with birds from a young age, growing up in Darlington.
He became interested in bird-watching after his father gave him a set of World War Two binoculars. “It’s an honour to be exhibiting at Lady Lever – a truly unique gallery that’s brimming with masterpieces,” Moir said. Dave Moffat from National Museums Liverpool commented on Moir’s work.
“Moir’s paintings are unmistakably his – his passion for birds is visible in every brushstroke, along with his knowledge of each species.

He studies each bird before painting it, allowing him to capture their character and quirks with his own unique blend of precision and wonder.”
Moir studied at art school and was born to artistic parents.
His works have been displayed in Newcastle and Harrogate. He also presented the series “Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir” for Sky Arts with his wife, Nancy, in recent years. The Lady Lever Art Gallery is dedicated to the memory of the wife of Victorian soap manufacturer William Lever, who built houses for his factory workers at Port Sunlight.
Fans of the Sky Arts series will be able to see Moir’s original artworks close up at the gallery, with some created exclusively for this exhibition and many available for purchase. The exhibition celebrates the magic and majesty of many of the UK’s most-loved feathered friends and invites viewers to appreciate their brilliance and importance through the beauty of paint. “The process of working with the team at National Museums Liverpool has been greatly enjoyable, and I’m very much looking forward to sharing the finished exhibition with visitors,” Moir added.
