The halftime show is expected to start at about 8 p.m. ET, though the exact time will depend on the duration of the first half of the game. Joining Kendrick Lamar as a special guest is Grammy-winning R&B singer SZA.
The two artists have collaborated numerous times, including on tracks such as “All the Stars” from the “Black Panther” movie soundtrack and “Luther” and “Gloria” from Lamar’s latest album. Additionally, Jon Batiste, a five-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter from Louisiana, will perform the national anthem. Fellow Louisiana natives Trombone Shorty, Lauren Daigle, and Ledisi will also be part of the pregame entertainment.
Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 59 excitement
Born on June 17, 1987, in Compton, California, Kendrick Lamar released his first album, “Section.80,” in 2011. However, it was his 2012 release, “Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City,” that propelled him into the mainstream.
This album has spent more than 12 years on the Billboard 200 album charts. Lamar’s albums have sold nearly 8 million copies in the United States, with four hitting No. 1 on the charts.
He has won 22 Grammy Awards, including recognition for Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. The Super Bowl halftime typically lasts between 20-30 minutes, nearly twice as long as halftime during a regular NFL game. The halftime performances themselves usually run 12-15 minutes.
While Kendrick Lamar has not announced his setlist, speculation suggests he may perform his 2024 hit “Not Like Us” and possibly debut live performances from his latest album “GNX,” including tracks like “Squabble Up” and “TV Off.” Iconic hits from previous albums such as “Humble,” “DNA,” “Alright,” “King Kunta,” “Money Trees,” and “M.A.A.D. City” may also feature. Given SZA’s involvement, they are likely to perform at least one of their collaborations, such as “All the Stars,” “Luther,” “Gloria,” or “30 for 30.”
With a lineup featuring some of today’s biggest stars, the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show promises to be an unforgettable experience.
