Mad Square surpasses expectations at box office

The much-anticipated sequel to the hit comedy “Mad,” titled “Mad Square,” has hit theaters and is making waves at the box office. Despite facing stiff competition from other major releases like “L2 Empuraan” and “Robinhood,” the film has managed to hold its own and perform exceptionally well. Producer Naga Vamsi, who has faced challenges in the past with his films often coinciding with other big releases, took a bold step by releasing “Mad Square” amidst the competition.

His confidence in the film has paid off, as it has been raking in impressive numbers at the box office. In North America, “Mad Square” is on track to cross the $1 million mark over the weekend. The film has already surpassed the lifetime gross of its predecessor, “Mad,” which collected $630,721 in the region.

With a strong opening day gross of $684,973 and a projected second-day collection of $200,000, “Mad Square” is expected to break into the $1 million club by Sunday. The film, directed by Kalyan Shankar, features an ensemble cast including Sangeeth Shobhan, Narne Nithin, Ram Nitin, Priyanka Jawalkar, and Vishnu Oi in prominent roles.

Mad Square’s box office triumph

The story follows the escapades of the characters as they transition from college life to adulthood, with a series of hilarious and chaotic events unfolding along the way. While the film delivers some laugh-out-loud moments, particularly through the chemistry between Vishnu Oi’s character Laddu and Sangeeth Sobhan’s character, the humor feels forced and artificial at times. The introduction of a robbery subplot in the second half adds a new dimension to the narrative, but the plot tends to drag in parts, with some sequences feeling like mere fillers.

The supporting cast, including Muralidhar Gaud, Raghu Babu, Sunil, and Satyam Rajesh, bring their unique quirks to their roles, adding to the overall entertainment value of the film. However, their contributions sometimes feel repetitive and fail to sustain the comedic momentum throughout the runtime. Despite its flaws, “Mad Square” manages to entertain audiences looking for mindless fun and laughter.

The film’s success at the box office is a testament to the popularity of the franchise and the audience’s appetite for light-hearted comedy. As “Mad Square” continues its successful run in theaters, it remains to be seen whether it will maintain its momentum and achieve even greater milestones. For now, the film has provided a much-needed dose of laughter and entertainment to moviegoers, solidifying its place as a worthy sequel to the beloved “Mad” franchise.
