Mason Gooding reveals brutal 'Scream 7' details

Mason Gooding has shared some exciting details about the upcoming “Scream 7” movie. In a recent podcast appearance, the 28-year-old actor, who plays Chad Meeks-Martin in the franchise, teased that Ghostface will be “the most brutal he’s been” in this installment. “There is a lot of blood and viscera, and I feel like with Kevin Williamson directing, fans have a lot to look forward to with what we do to these characters,” Gooding said.

He also confirmed that filming is already underway, with some scenes still left to shoot. Gooding discussed the secrecy surrounding the script, sharing an anecdote from a previous film where he didn’t know who the killers were until after filming had wrapped. However, for “Scream 7,” he has read the entire script, now that he is part of the legacy cast.

When asked if he always knew he would sign on for the seventh movie, Gooding explained that it was “touch and go” for various reasons, and he was often kept out of the script process until it was necessary for him to know.

The actor also expressed his excitement about working with original “Scream” star Neve Campbell in the upcoming sequel, after not having a significant opportunity to work with her on “Scream 5.” “Even just getting to be around her feels like I’m getting part of that history, and I feel better for it,” Gooding said.

Campbell’s return marks a significant development, as she had skipped the sixth film due to a salary dispute. Along with Campbell, the film will feature other returning cast members, including Jasmin Savoy Brown, who appeared in the fifth and sixth installments. New additions to the cast include Joel McHale, Isabel May, Mark Consuelos, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and Anna Camp.
