Chris Wolstenholme, the bassist of the rock band Muse, has hinted that the band is working on a new album. In a recent interview on The Leona Graham Podcast, Wolstenholme said fans can expect a new album in 2026. When asked about the band’s current status, especially since they are not signed to a label at the moment, Wolstenholme responded, “We will [sign to a label], obviously.
I think we’re gonna start work on the next record fairly soon. I think for the last few albums we’ve been with Warner and we’ve extended after each album. We may do the same again; we may go with a new label, who knows.”
Wolstenholme explained that the break since their 2022 release, “Will Of The People,” felt natural after extensive touring.
He said, “When you finish touring an album, and [when] the band has been around a bit longer, the gaps between albums get a little bit bigger.
Muse’s album plans for 2026
I don’t think we can be banging out new albums every two years like we used to.
But it gives you that opportunity to reset a little bit and think about what’s gonna happen going forward.”
The band plans to start working on new material very soon, potentially within the next couple of months. “We’ve got a few gigs in June. Only a handful – that’s the only gigs we’re doing this year.
I don’t think the idea is to do anything really serious until next year, so I would imagine that 2026 will be a new album, barring any disasters,” Wolstenholme shared. The interview comes just months after Wolstenholme discussed his transition to taking on more vocal duties, notably on songs ‘Save Me’ and ‘Liquid State’ from Muse’s 2012 album. Since the release of “Will Of The People,” the band’s frontman has been active with various personal and professional engagements.
He mentioned that he feels a sense of change is coming across society, emphasizing the need for balance in modern politics.
