Navarro declares Jane's Addiction won't reunite

Dave Navarro says there’s “no chance” that Jane’s Addiction will play together again. He spoke nearly eight months after the band exploded during a gig in Boston. As Jane’s Addiction was mid-song, lead singer Perry Farrell got physical with Dave.

Perry was visibly irate before throwing a punch at him. Crew members and the bassist intervened, restraining Perry before escorting him off stage. Before this happened, Dave said the band was getting along.

“There were a couple of gigs on this last run that we did last year in Europe with Eric Avery back on bass that were some of my favorite Jane’s Addiction gigs of all-time,” he said. “And yet, if you were to ask me what my least favorite gig was, it would be a gig last September, on Friday the 13th, in Boston.”

“I have to speak in broad strokes here, because there are other individuals involved, and it’s still unresolved,” he said.

Navarro says band won’t reunite

“There was an altercation onstage, and all the hard work and dedication, the writing, the hours in the studio, picking up and leaving home, and crisscrossing the country and Europe, all while trying to overcome my illness [long COVID] — it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band’s life,” explained Dave. “And there’s no chance for the band to ever play together again.”

Following the fight, Jane’s Addiction canceled the rest of the tour. The band was set to play 12 more dates across the U.S. and Canada—their first trek featuring the classic lineup, with Eric returning on bass for the first time since 2010.

After the incident, Perry issued a statement where he apologized to “my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro,” and took “full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

Perry’s wife, Etty Lau Farrell, offered further insights into the incident. She claimed that persistent issues with the sound, coupled with Farrell’s tinnitus and sore throat, led to his outburst. When fans complained they couldn’t hear him, Farrell “lost it.”

Despite Farrell’s apology, Navarro indicated that the band is unlikely to reassemble.

“The experiences are there, but the potential of having those types of experiences ended that night,” he concluded. A representative for Farrell did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Navarro’s latest statements.
