Phish has secured the top spot in the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan vote, receiving over 329,000 votes. The legendary jam band, known for its powerhouse live performances, beat out runner-up Bad Company by nearly 50,000 votes. The top five finishers in the fan vote, which also include Cocker, another nominee, and a fifth act, will have their results added to ballots from more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals to help determine the Class of 2025.

Soundgarden narrowly missed out on the top five, falling short by only 300 votes.

Other notable acts in the fan vote include Chubby Checker with 203,000 votes, The Black Crowes with 165,000, Mariah Carey with nearly 138,000, Joy Division and New Order with 120,000, The White Stripes with 110,000, OutKast with 108,000, Oasis with 99,000, and Maná with 34,000 votes.

Despite not having a single chart-topping hit and only one Grammy nomination, Phish has released 38 albums, with three making the top 10 on the charts. They have also seen significant success in the adult alternative format, with hits like “Free,” “Heavy Things,” “The Connection,” and “Backwards Down the Number Line.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will announce this year’s inductees on a live episode of “American Idol” on Sunday, where the episode’s contestants will perform songs associated with past Rock Hall inductees. Fans and followers of the music industry eagerly await the announcement to see which of their favorite artists will be honored this year.
