King Charles and Prince William have been mocked by an anti-monarchy group for wearing military uniforms on Armed Forces Day. The group, Republic, shared photos of the royals in uniform and accused them of exploiting the armed forces for their own PR. Republic said, “It’s Armed Forces Day today, so worth remembering those who exploit our forces for their own PR.

A Walter Mitty is someone who dresses up in unearned uniforms, ranks and medals. Something royals do regularly.”

The King and Prince of Wales had both shared messages on social media to mark the day. King Charles said he salutes “all members of the military this Armed Forces Day” and thanked them for their “tireless service, protecting the UK and promoting peace overseas.”

Prince William shared a photo of himself in military uniform and said, “Proud to mark Armed Forces Day.

Anti-monarchy group criticizes royals

Thank you to everyone serving in the British Armed Forces, and to all veterans, for your courage, dedication, and sacrifice.”

The royal family has a long history of military service, with many members having served in various branches of the armed forces. However, Republic has criticized the royals for wearing military uniforms and medals that they have not earned through active service.

The group has also accused the royal family of using the armed forces for their own publicity and to boost their image. Republic is a campaign group that advocates for the abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of a democratic republic in the UK. The criticism from Republic comes amid ongoing debates about the role and relevance of the monarchy in modern Britain.
