Wes Scantlin, the lead singer of the rock band Puddle of Mudd, was arrested on March 11 in Torrance, California. Police took Scantlin into custody around 4 a.m. after responding to reports of a domestic dispute at an apartment. According to law enforcement sources, Scantlin and his girlfriend had a verbal argument that allegedly turned physical.
The girlfriend reportedly had visible marks on her arms when police arrived. During the arrest, police also found a controlled substance on Scantlin. He now faces felony charges for domestic violence and drug possession.
Scantlin was held in jail until March 15, when he was released on a $90,000 bond. Scantlin’s attorney, Robert Hankoff, claims there is “misinformation” being reported about the incident. “He is dealing with a misdemeanor domestic violence case, and we expect he will be vindicated when all of the facts come to light,” Hankoff said.
scantlin faces new legal troubles
This is not Scantlin’s first run-in with the law. In August 2024, he was reportedly arrested for resisting arrest during a traffic stop.
Police also discovered an outstanding warrant for allegedly carrying a weapon at an airport. Earlier this month, Scantlin made headlines for a concerning performance at a charity concert. He later claimed he had been “roofied” by a former bandmate.
The 52-year-old rocker has faced several legal issues over the years. The latest charges come as he continues to tour and perform with Puddle of Mudd. The name of Scantlin’s girlfriend has not been released.
This story is still developing, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming days and weeks.
