Solo Leveling dominates 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards

The 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards celebrated the best in anime at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa in Tokyo on May 25. Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira co-hosted the event for the third year in a row. Creepy Nuts won best anime song for “Otonoke,” the opening theme from “DAN DA DAN.” Hiroyuki Sawano received the best score award for “Solo Leveling,” which also won anime of the year.

Creepy Nuts performed “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” from “Mashle: Magic and Muscles.” FLOW sang “DAYS” to commemorate the 20th anniversary of “Eureka Seven.” LiSA, Spotify’s most-streamed Japanese artist globally in 2020, performed several hits. “Attack on Titan” was awarded the first global impact award. Yuichiro Hayashi from MAPPA accepted the honor.

The series concluded with the film “Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK” in late 2024. Fans worldwide cast a record 51 million votes this year.

Anime awards celebration shines bright

The awards will be available to stream on Crunchyroll’s YouTube and Twitch Channels, SONY PICTURES CORE, and Sony Group Corp Global YouTube Channels. “Fans form deep emotional connections to anime. These are works of art that help define the identity of anime fans,” said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll.

“Solo Leveling” won anime of the year and several other categories. “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” took best continuing series. “Look Back” was named film of the year.

Voice actors from various languages were also honored for their performances. The event showcased the vibrant diversity and rich creativity of the anime industry. Winners were celebrated for their contributions to the beloved art form.
