Sony Pictures unveiled exclusive footage from the upcoming film “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Monday. The romance drama, directed by Kogonada, follows two strangers who embark on an extraordinary emotional journey that connects them. Kogonada introduced the footage, expressing his passion for the project.
“This is the kind of film I would want to watch in a packed theater. At its heart, it is two people reconciling with their past to find love in the present,” he said. The trailer shows Robbie’s character, Sarah, and Farrell’s character, David, meeting at a wedding.
Kogonada’s emotional tale of reconcilation
Prompted by a virtual assistant, they set off on a journey filled with magical realism, walking through a forest and encountering doorways that transport them to moments from their pasts. “Every door unlocks a memory,” reads the on-screen text as the duo revisits significant moments, such as David’s high school and Sarah’s time with her mother.
At one point, David states, “I want to go back to when I thought everything would work out for me,” suggesting a deep longing for reconciliation. “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” marks Robbie’s first acting role since her 2023 blockbuster, while Farrell recently garnered acclaim for his multi-award-winning performance in “The Penguin.” The supporting cast includes Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Hamish Linklater. The film, produced by Imperative Entertainment and 30West with Sony Pictures handling global distribution, is penned by Seth Reiss.
The production team includes Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin, Seth Reiss, and Youree Henley, with Kogonada, Ilene Feldman, and Ori Eisen serving as executive producers. “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” is set for domestic release on September 19, 2025, promising to take audiences on a visually stunning and emotionally compelling journey that showcases the impressive talents of its lead actors.
