Styx has announced their new album “Circling from Above” and released the lead single “Build and Destroy.” The album features 13 tracks and contributions from all seven band members. “Circling from Above” will be available everywhere on July 18. However, fans can get early copies on vinyl or CD at Styx’s merch table starting May 28 at their tour kickoff show in Greenville, South Carolina.
The album is also available through the band’s online shop. This is Styx’s first album since 2021. The current lineup includes James “JY” Young, Tommy Shaw, Chuck Panozzo, Todd Sucherman, Lawrence Gowan, Will Evankovich, and Terry Gowan.
The lead single “Build and Destroy” showcases Styx’s signature vocal harmonies and rich instrumentation.

Lawrence Gowan, who sings lead on the track, said the song came together quickly near the end of the recording sessions.
“That little melody, I kept singing ‘Build and Destroy,'” Gowan explained. “Even though we don’t sing over that part, I kept thinking that would be a good title. It’s thematic.
The melody feels like a little ‘Star Trek’ or ‘Twilight Zone’ thing — just a small tag that reinforces the title.”
He added, “We knew it was strong. Even though it was the second-to-last song we finished, it felt like a quick way into the album’s overall theme.”
Fans can now stream “Build and Destroy” and view the album artwork and full tracklist. The band is kicking off their summer tour tonight in South Carolina with shows scheduled across the U.S.
