Jai Rodriguez, known for his role on the reality series “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” is joining the cast of “The Young and the Restless” in a guest role. Rodriguez will play Pietro, a successful party planner hired by the Newman family to organize a birthday celebration for Nikki Newman, played by Melody Thomas Scott. Rodriguez’s appearance will span four episodes, with his debut set for May 28.
This isn’t his first time on a soap opera, as he previously appeared on “All My Children” and “Days of Our Lives.”
On “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” Rodriguez served as the pop culture, relationships, and social interaction expert, earning the nickname “Culture Vulture.” The show premiered in 2003, won an Emmy Award, and concluded in 2007 after five seasons.
Rodriguez joins soap opera cast
Since then, Rodriguez has had recurring roles in several series and guest-starred on episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Resident,” and “High Potential.” He also appeared in Judd Apatow’s comedy “Bros” alongside Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane.
In addition to his television and film work, Rodriguez has a passion for theater. He played Angel in Broadway’s “Rent” and took on the titular role in “Zanna Don’t!” He also previously ran the concert series “Twisted Cabaret.”
