Nicolas Cage will reprise his role as Spider-Man Noir in a new live-action series set to debut on MGM+ in early 2026. The series, titled “Spider-Noir,” will take place in an alternate 1930s timeline and follow Cage’s character, an aging private investigator forced to confront his past as the city’s only superhero. After its domestic launch on MGM+, “Spider-Noir” will be released globally on Prime Video.
The eight-episode series is being developed by Steve Lightfoot, known for his work on “The Punisher.”
Cage first voiced the character of Spider-Man Noir in the 2018 animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” The upcoming series is described as a darker and more mature take on the Spider-Man mythos. Cast member Luka Haas, who plays a subordinate of Brendan Gleeson’s New York mob boss, shared details about the series’ production.

“We filmed it in—I think it may come out in both black and white and color, but when we filmed it, the monitors were all black and white, so you got this feeling, and it looked very, very authentic,” Haas said. In addition to Cage, Haas, and Gleeson, the cast includes Lamorne Morris as a young Robbie Robertson, Andrew Robinson in an undisclosed recurring role, Abraham Popoola as a World War I veteran, Li Jun Li as a nightclub singer, and Jack Huston as a bodyguard. “Spider-Noir” is one of two live-action projects Sony has slated for release in 2026.
The other is the highly anticipated fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe-set movie starring Tom Holland, which is set to begin filming later this year. Casting for the film, titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” is currently underway, with Sadie Sink joining as the first new addition to the cast.
