Nervosa, the Brazilian/Greek death/thrash metal band, has released a new single titled “Smashing Heads” along with a music video. The song celebrates the band’s 15-year musical journey and serves as a special release to commemorate this milestone before they move on to their next album. “Smashing Heads” explores the theme of obsession and the feelings that can drive one crazy.

The band members express this turmoil in their own unique ways, which is portrayed in the accompanying video. Actress and band member Gabriela significantly contributed to the video’s acting and conception.

The video was recorded in the basement of their studio, and the band is thrilled with the results. Guitarist and founder Prika Amaral has stepped up to become the band’s main vocalist with the release of their previous album, “Jailbreak.” Amaral shared her experience, stating, “This last record we recorded and composed together was a huge challenge—probably the biggest in my entire career—because I have always been a guitarist, not a singer.”

Amaral received help from her friend and favorite singer, Mayara Puertas, who taught her how to handle various vocal ranges required for thrash metal. The process was both challenging and rewarding for Amaral, who composed many of the vocal lines for the band’s songs, bringing new excitement to her career as a musician.

Nervosa’s current lineup includes Prika Amaral on vocals and guitars, Helena Kotina, Gabriela Abud, and Emmelie Herwegh. The band is excited about this new release and looks forward to bringing more new music with their next album.
