Pat Sheridan, guitarist for Fit For An Autopsy, has launched a new initiative called Sight For Sound. The program aims to provide free eyewear to touring musicians and crew members who work 75 or more shows per year in the U.S.
Sheridan created the program in collaboration with Jonathan Strauss, founder of NEVEN Eyewear. Sheridan serves as the director of partnerships at NEVEN.
The initiative addresses a significant need within the music community. Many touring professionals lack access to essential benefits like health insurance and vision care. Sheridan shared his thoughts on the program: “Our Sight for Sound program is life-changing for musicians and crew members.
I’ve been in the extreme music scene since the ’90s, and vision has never been addressed before. Musicians aren’t offered a 401K plan, health insurance, or vision benefits.
Sight for Sound initiative aims
It’s an honor to save music industry professionals thousands of dollars a year.”
Strauss, a heavy music fan, co-founded NEVEN Eyewear with his wife. He emphasizes the importance of supporting the touring community: “A lot of people think musicians or people in the industry are living the dream, but what they don’t see is the reality behind the scenes — no healthcare, no safety net. And when a tour ends, the realities of life kick in fast.”
NEVEN Eyewear has quickly gained traction in the metal scene.
The brand has collaborated with well-known names like Exodus, Tanner Wayne (In Flames), Zach Johnson (The Ghost Inside), Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste), and Phil Sgrosso. Strauss started the brand at home with his wife, working out of a bedroom. He states, “Metal fans can smell bullshit from a mile away.
NEVEN doesn’t fake it. We’re not some polished, corporate eyewear brand trying to be edgy. We’re real people who built this brand from the ground up, with grit, heart, and a DIY mentality that mirrors the energy of the scene.”
Interested individuals who meet the eligibility criteria can sign up now to get fitted for free eyewear through the Sight for Sound program.
