P NATION’s new girl group Baby DONT Cry made their debut on June 23 with the single “F Girl.” The group, which consists of members Yihyun, Mia, Kumi, and Beni, is the first girl group from P NATION, the label founded by K-pop icon Psy. In an exclusive interview, the members shared their experiences as trainees and their excitement about debuting. Yihyun, the eldest member at 19, said, “I feel like the song (‘F Girl’) really represents us well.

I feel that the song itself is very honest and very confident, and I believe that all of the members are also very confident in who they are.”

The group’s unique sound is credited to their producer and creative director Soyeon, who is also the leader of the girl group Idle. Yihyun praised Soyeon, saying, “She’s someone who’s already achieved what we want to achieve in the future, so she was able to actually give us very realistic and relatable advice.”

The members of Baby DONT Cry trained for five years before their debut, with the youngest member, Beni, having been a trainee for about six years. Psy explained that he had been looking for the right members to join Beni and the right time for a girl group, and he believes that “the girls are ready now.”

Despite the excitement surrounding their debut, P NATION faced criticism for a now-deleted music video teaser for “F Girl.” The teaser featured a scene that some viewers found suggestive, especially considering that three out of the group’s four members are minors.

In response to the controversy, P NATION released a statement apologizing for any discomfort or concern caused by the teaser. They clarified that the scene was intended to convey a playful and rebellious tone and that there was no intent to sexualize the content.

The agency also announced that they would remove the scene in question from the final music video. P NATION also addressed concerns about the group’s cherry logo, stating that it was chosen to embody vibrancy, boldness, and youthful energy, and was not meant to reference any interpretations beyond this positive spirit. Despite the controversy, Baby DONT Cry’s debut has generated significant buzz, with member Yihyun going viral for her stunning visuals following the group’s debut showcase.

Fans have flooded online communities with clips and praise for her striking appearance and stage presence. As Baby DONT Cry begins their journey in the competitive world of K-pop, Psy expressed his hopes for the group, saying, “I hope for them to be not number one but legends.”
