Ben Affleck recently opened up about the challenges of dating and flirting after his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. The 52-year-old actor, who is promoting his new movie “The Accountant 2,” said he relates to his character Christian Wolff’s struggles with relationships. “Here’s a guy who’s trying to figure out — he wants to have a relationship with a woman, he’s trying to figure out how to do that, like, how to put yourself out there,” Affleck said.

“He’s not comfortable extending himself. He doesn’t really know how to flirt exactly. He’s not comfortable, like so many of us.”

Affleck and Lopez, who rekindled their romance in 2021 after calling off their first engagement decades earlier, divorced in January after two years of marriage.

The actor admitted that navigating the early stages of a relationship can be difficult for anyone. “It’s not easy for anyone figuring out relationships, particularly at the very early part, where you’re trying to gauge, ‘What does this signal mean? Is this person looking at me?

Do they like me? Am I going to humiliate myself if I go over there?'” he said.

Despite the challenges, Affleck commended his character for putting himself out there by line-dancing while on a date in the movie. “I probably am not going to get a lot more demands for my line-dancing work,” he joked. “I don’t know.

The phone hasn’t rung yet.”

Affleck, who was previously married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, said his life is “pretty drama-free” since his split from Lopez and that he holds “nothing but respect” for his ex-spouse. “There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something,” he said. “But honestly, the truth is much more quotidian than people might believe.”

“The Accountant 2” follows Christian Wolff as he is brought out of hiding by treasury agent Marybeth Medina after the director of the treasury department’s financial crimes bureau is murdered.

The plot sees Wolff and his estranged brother uncovering a deadly conspiracy and becoming targets themselves. The movie is set to be released on April 25.
