Daniel Cosgrove is joining the cast of “General Hospital” as Ezra Boyle, a politician who will shake things up in Port Charles. The 54-year-old actor, known for his roles on “All My Children” and “Days of Our Lives,” will make his debut on the ABC soap opera on Friday, March 21. Cosgrove originally auditioned for a different role in January but was soon offered the part of Ezra.
He has been filming for the past month and a half. “He is part of the political storyline and he’s a consummate politician,” Cosgrove said of his character. “He’s mixing it up with a lot of the cast and creating a bit of a thorn in the side for some of the good folks of Port Charles.”
The opportunity to join “General Hospital” came as a surprise to Cosgrove, who had taken a break from acting and was teaching and selling Jeeps.
“This opportunity reignited something in me,” he shared, expressing gratitude for being back on set. Cosgrove is excited to collaborate with the show’s talented cast, including former “All My Children” co-star Cameron Mathison, who plays Drew Quartermaine.

The two actors last worked together in the ’90s and have enjoyed reminiscing about their time on the now-defunct soap. Based on the East Coast, Cosgrove is commuting to Los Angeles for the job but doesn’t mind the travel. He cherishes the relationships he’s built over the years with fellow actors and crew members.
“There’s just so much gratitude for the opportunity to do this,” he said. “When I’m on set, I love it. And now, being older and having all the experiences that I have, I have a true appreciation for these moments and relationships.”
Cosgrove is eager to see what the future holds for his character, Ezra Boyle.
“I can’t wait to see what’s next for Ezra Boyle,” he enthused. Catch Daniel Cosgrove as Ezra Boyle on “General Hospital,” weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for airtimes.
