Disney has scaled back the Hollywood premiere of its live-action “Snow White” remake amid ongoing controversies surrounding the film and its stars. The event, set for March 15, will be a subdued affair compared to the typical red carpet glamour associated with Disney premieres. The film has faced criticism on several fronts.
Some fans expressed discontent with the casting of Latina actress Rachel Zegler as Snow White. Zegler also faced backlash for comments she made about the 1937 original movie, calling it “dated” and criticizing the portrayal of the prince. Actor Peter Dinklage, who has dwarfism, criticized the film’s portrayal of the seven dwarfs, suggesting it perpetuates negative stereotypes.
In response, Disney stated it was consulting with the dwarfism community to rethink the depiction of these characters.

Geopolitical tensions have also influenced publicity surrounding the film.
Zegler has been vocal on social media about supporting “free Palestine,” while Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen, has publicly supported Israel. Despite the controversies, Disney is moving forward with the film’s release. Zegler and Gadot recently presented together at the Oscars and have made appearances to promote the movie.
The official trailer has garnered 11.8 million views on YouTube. “Snow White,” directed by Marc Webb, is set to hit theaters on March 21. The premiere will include a pre-party and screening at the El Capitan Theatre, with only photographers and a house crew present to cover the event.
