Jimmy Kimmel criticized President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s approach to government on his show Monday night. He joked that America is being run by a “dick and a tater.”
Kimmel said Musk’s team has fired thousands of government workers and accessed private taxpayer information without consideration. “What an absolute mess these scoundrels are making of our country,” he said.
The federal government is in disarray, with mass firings happening haphazardly. “It’s not just that they’re firing thousands of federal workers. It is the glee with which they’re firing,” Kimmel said.
He noted that ordinarily, there is compassion when laying people off, but not with MAGA and the “DOGE bros.”
Kimmel pointed out that Musk sent a mass email to all federal workers over the weekend, with the subject line “What did you do last week?” He ordered them to list the top five things they did at work.
Kimmel mocks Trump’s golf habits
“It’s like the government is being run by BuzzFeed,” Kimmel remarked.
Meanwhile, Kimmel highlighted the irony in Trump’s actions. “While all this so-called ‘cost cutting’ is happening, Trump has already spent $10.7 million of tax money playing golf. He has played golf on nine of his first thirty days of work,” Kimmel said.
Trump is accusing remote employees of slacking off while he works from home and plays golf instead of working. “Donald Trump, a guy who literally works from home and is out playing golf instead of working, criticizing others for playing golf—there’s almost no parallel,” Kimmel said. “It’s like Diddy complaining you bought too much baby oil,” Kimmel joked.
“But Trump and his buddy Elon… what a team… we’ve got a dick and a tater in charge of everything,” he concluded.
