Elon Musk’s young DOGE squad unmasked

Elon Musk’s team of young DOGE disruptors has been unmasked.

The group includes a 19-year-old college freshman, a former Model UN organizer, and a high school student turned Silicon Valley player. All are under 26 years old.

The revelation has sparked concerns over their lack of experience and the sensitive roles they hold.

Musk seemed to acknowledge the skills of his team but noted that not all are “software engineers,” and some don’t even hold degrees. The group comprises Akash Bobba, 21, a student at the University of California, Berkeley; Edward Coristine, 19, a student at Northeastern University in Boston; Ethan Shaotran, 22, who was a senior at Harvard University as of September; Luke Farritor, 23, who attended the University of Nebraska without graduating; Gautier Cole Killian, 24, a former student at McGill University; and Gavin Kliger, 25, a former student at Berkeley.

Their relative inexperience and lack of previous government positions have drawn ire from Democrats. They argue these young men should not have access to sensitive records. In response, most of the group deleted their LinkedIn profiles, X accounts, and even Facebook pages.

Gavin Kliger’s LinkedIn lists him as a “Special Advisor to the Director” at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. His prior experience includes working as an engineer at Twitter and a senior software engineer at Databricks.

Ethan Shaotran wrote an essay for Business Insider detailing how he “balances his startup with full-time studies.” He founded a scheduling assistant application that won a $100,000 grant from OpenAI in 2023.

Luke Farritor was co-winner of a $700,000 prize for using AI to decipher a 2,000-year-old charred papyrus scroll from Pompeii. Before this, Farritor interned for SpaceX.

Young disruptors gain top-level access

He dropped out of college to work for Silicon Valley entrepreneur Nat Friedman. Edward Coristine, 19, interned at Neuralink, Musk’s brain-computer interface company. His father, Charles Coristine, turned around the failing snack company LesserEvil.

Akash Bobba’s deleted LinkedIn profile indicated he was an investment engineering intern with Bridgewater Associates and previously interned at Meta and Palantir. In 2019, he was organizing Model UN sessions and delivered a notable commencement speech at his high school in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. The presence of DOGE employees in federal buildings with high-level access has stirred concerns.

Sources say Bobba, Coristine, Farritor, and Shaotran have GSA emails and A-suite level clearance, allowing them access to top floors and IT systems. Killian also has a direct DOGE email, serving as a volunteer. The identification of these young engineers has sparked controversy online, with some equating it to doxxing.

Figures like TPUSA’s Charlie Kirk have criticized the scrutiny, suggesting the young talent could be crucial in reforming America’s government. Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr.

has pledged to support Musk legally against any threats to his team. Created by an executive order from Trump 2.0, DOGE has gained increasing access to sensitive information, causing some politicians, including Chuck Schumer, to voice their opposition. The situation continues to develop as Musk’s secret DOGE goon squad navigates their controversial yet influential roles in D.C.
