Marvel Studios has released a new teaser for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” to celebrate Father’s Day. The teaser focuses on Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal, who is known as “Marvel’s First Father.”

In a recent interview, Pascal said he sees “a limitless amount of layers” to the character of Reed Richards. “He faces the most sophisticated threats on a mathematical level while also being incredibly emotionally available.

It was a fascinating contradiction to explore,” Pascal said. Early box office forecasts predict the movie could have an impressive opening weekend, with estimates ranging from $125 million to $155 million. However, the movie recently had a test screening that received mixed reactions.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set in a vibrant, 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world.

The movie introduces the Fantastic Four, a family of superheroes who must defend Earth from a space god named Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson) and his Herald, the Silver Surfer (played by Julia Garner).

The conflict becomes personal as Galactus’ plan to devour the planet unfolds. The movie is directed by Matt Shakman and also stars Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (the Thing). Other cast members include Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and John Malkovich.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025. Tickets for the movie have already gone on sale, which has pushed opening weekend estimates higher. While the mixed reactions from the test screening suggest there may be room for improvement, the movie is still expected to be a significant hit for Marvel Studios.
