Lou Gramm, the original lead singer of the classic rock band Foreigner, is set to reunite with the group for a new song and upcoming tour dates. The band’s bassist, Jeff Pilson, announced that their 1981 album “4” will be reissued in September, featuring remixes of the original tracks and a newly finished song called “Fool If You Love Him.”
Gramm started writing the song during the “4” era and recently completed it by adding two new verses and vocals. “We found an unfinished song in all the files,” Pilson said.
“Lou had sung the chorus, but it was only one verse. So we called Lou and asked him to finish and sing the song. He said, ‘Absolutely.'”
This marks the second new Foreigner song with Gramm in a year, following the release of “Turning Back the Time,” a ’90s track he worked on with co-founding guitarist Mick Jones.
Gramm, 74, will also be touring with the band at upcoming concerts in South America, sharing vocals with band member Luis Maldonado. Pilson spoke about the band’s reunion with Gramm in a recent interview. “Something happened at our induction last fall where we all kind of came together,” he said.
Foreigner and Gramm reunite
“We realized that Foreigner is bigger than all of us. It’s the music that we’ve all tapped into.
The fact that he’s coming down as a special guest to sing four songs with us is pretty amazing.”
Gramm’s decision to rejoin Foreigner comes after years of tension with the band. “Ever since the induction, it felt like I had to let go of things I’ve been holding onto for years,” Gramm shared. “What you’ve been mad about for the past 20 years is not a monumental thing.”
The singer’s relationship with Jones has also improved following the guitarist’s Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.
“I hope he was watching the show,” Gramm said of their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. “It was a great experience and a real honor for what all of us, especially Mick, have accomplished.”
As Foreigner looks ahead to their 50th anniversary in 2026, they plan to celebrate with a world tour and a documentary about their history. Gramm expressed his excitement about the band’s recognition and future, stating, “I’m thrilled that we’re finally a part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Justice has been done.”
