Graydon Carter critiques Meghan Markle's rise

Meghan Markle has faced criticism from former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter and Sun photographer Arthur Edwards regarding her rise to fame after meeting Prince Harry. In an appearance on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Edwards shared his perspective on Markle’s journey to the limelight. “She had nothing to moan about.

She got great publicity, and she was unknown,” Edwards said, referring to when Markle questioned why an interview focused on Prince Harry rather than her charity work. Edwards emphasized that Markle was fortunate to receive the publicity she did. “No one I knew had heard of her.

No one in my family had heard of her. She was a complete unknown,” he added. “I think she was lucky to get that publicity.

Critics question Markle’s fame path

I mean, and that’s what she always sought—publicity. She wanted to say what a great actress she was,” Edwards concluded.

Carter also shared his experience booking Markle for one of his final cover stories before stepping down as Vanity Fair’s editor in 2017. He recalled that Jane Sarkin, who managed the magazine’s covers, suggested featuring Markle. “I said, ‘I have no idea who that is, why should we do a story on her?'” Carter recounted.

Sarkin informed him that Markle, known for her role in “Suits,” was set to marry Prince Harry. Carter chuckled at Markle’s assumption that her charity work, rather than her relationship with Prince Harry, secured her the cover. He remembered how Markle challenged the interviewer once they booked her for the story.

According to Carter, Markle insisted, “Excuse me, is this going to all be about Prince Harry? Because I thought we were going to be talking about my charities and my philanthropy.”
