Janet Jackson is set to receive the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards. She will also perform on TV for the first time since 2018. Jackson has had a 50-year career in the music industry.

She has won 11 American Music Awards over her career. Jackson is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a five-time Grammy winner. She has sold more than 180 million albums worldwide.

She is one of only four artists to have a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in the ’80s, ’90s, ’00s, and ’10s. Her single “Someone to Call My Lover” from 2001 recently re-entered the Billboard charts.

It reached No. 3 on the R&B digital songs chart and had a big increase in streaming.

Her third album had five top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Her next album, “Rhythm Nation 1814,” is the only album to have seven top-five songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Jackson’s AMAs performance will happen at the same time as her Vegas residency at Resorts World Las Vegas.

She has six shows from May 21-31, 2025. The 2025 American Music Awards will air live on CBS and Paramount+ from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. Fans can vote for the awards until Thursday at 11:59:50 p.m. PT.

The categories of collaboration of the year and social song of the year will be open for web voting during the first 30 minutes of the show. Dick Clark Productions created the American Music Awards.
