Jon Stewart criticized CNN’s Jake Tapper on Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show” for withholding information about President Joe Biden in his new book, “Original Sin.” Stewart argued that the details in the book should have been disclosed months ago. In a montage of clips promoting the book, Tapper teased, “You will not believe what we found out.” Stewart mocked this, saying, “Don’t news people have to tell you what they know when they find it out? Isn’t that the difference between news and a secret?”

Stewart also addressed Biden’s recent health news, noting how it put CNN pundits in a difficult position as they continued to promote “Original Sin” while expressing condolences for the president.

He found it odd that the network was selling a book about information that should have been made available to the public for free a year ago.

Stewart critiques Tapper’s timing

“I understand the excitement over an insidious Democratic cover-up about Joe Biden’s mental decline,” Stewart said.

“The thing is though, it wasn’t a cover-up, because everyone already knew.”

Polls have shown that a vast majority of the public believes Biden is too old to run again. “That’s what’s so hilarious about politicians,” Stewart commented. “The cover-up doesn’t work when everyone knows you’re lying.”

The segment highlighted Stewart’s classic style of using humor to critique media and political figures, calling into question journalistic integrity and the timing of major revelations.
