Kanye West’s album “Donda 2” was removed from streaming platforms just hours after its release on Wednesday. The sudden removal came after several producers threatened legal action against the rapper over unpaid dues. DeAndre “Free” Maiden, who manages producers Jahmal “Boogz Da Beast” Gwin and Brian “AllDay” Miller, contacted West demanding the album be taken down.
Gwin and Miller were credited with producing eight of the album’s 18 tracks. West shared a screenshot of a message from Maiden on social media.
Kanye’s album removed over payment issues
The message stated: “We did not & do not consent to the usage of our work for Donda 2 or ANY Ye project! He’s owed us $ for almost 3 years now, has refused to pay, yet keeps stealing our work.”
In his post, West commented: “Free Maiden tried to charge me 3 million dollars for these beats from people I showed how to make beats to,” followed by a shrugging emoji. He also expressed frustration by writing, “Managers.”
This latest development adds to the growing list of legal and social troubles surrounding Kanye West. Recently, his appearance on Twitch was cut short after he made offensive remarks, leading to his banning from the platform.
Actor David Schwimmer also called on Elon Musk to remove West from X (formerly known as Twitter), highlighting the need to prevent hate speech from gaining a platform. The future of West’s musical career and public presence remains uncertain as controversies continue to follow him.
