Kody Brown, the star of the reality TV show “Sister Wives,” is in a heated legal battle with his ex-wives Meri and Janelle over a property in Coyote Pass. The 14-acre land was bought in 2018 when Kody was still with his four wives. In a recent episode, Kody, 55, argued that he should get a bigger share of the property because he put in more money.
“We didn’t pay for Coyote Pass all equally,” he said. “I paid for an entire lot all by myself, at least 92% of it.”
The land cost $820,000 and was purchased when Kody was married to all four “sister wives.” But by 2021, his relationships with Meri, Janelle, and Christine ended. Only Robyn, his legal wife, stayed with him.
Even though their marriages ended, the women were still tied to Kody because of the Coyote Pass property. Christine sold her share back to Kody to cut all ties. But Meri and Janelle still own parts of the land and are upset that Kody won’t share his plans for it.
After months of fighting, Meri and Janelle decided to get lawyers.

Meri said, “I don’t think you get to decide what we do with it.
Sorry, you are not the head of my family.” Janelle added, “I think it is time for somebody to be pushing my interests. I probably will get a lawyer. In fact, I’ve been talking to one.”
Meri feels Kody gave her a smaller share of the land because she only had one child with him, while his other wives had more kids.
She got the smallest piece, about two acres. To make things more complicated, Robyn, Kody’s current wife, also has strong feelings about the land. “Robyn and I haven’t really synced up,” Kody said.
“We’re in different places. Sometimes I want to keep it, sometimes I want to sell it. And Robyn knows we need to sell it but sometimes wants to keep it.”
The fight over Coyote Pass shows how complex things are in the Brown family as they deal with personal relationships and shared investments.
