Love Island USA has issued a stern warning to viewers regarding the cyberbullying of its contestants. The reality show emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated, especially in light of increased negative attention from fans and harsh online criticisms aimed at the cast members. A significant amount of the backlash stemmed from the Islanders’ decision to vote out Jeremiah Brown and Hannah Fields during a recent episode, prompting online vitriol.

In response, the show’s broadcaster, Peacock, issued a message during Tuesday’s episode stating, “The keyword in Love Island is… LOVE. We love our fans. We love our Islanders.

We don’t love cyberbullying, harassment, or hate.”

The show took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to remind fans that the Islanders are “real people.” The message urged fans to be kind and spread love, appreciating the efforts of the contestants who are sharing their summer on the show. Jeremiah’s ex, Huda Mustafa, has also become a focal point of the conversation. Her ex-boyfriend, Noah Sheline, defended her against the social media criticism she’s received for her appearance on the show.

“Her going on that show to find love, or whatever you think it was she’s doing, remember she’s still human, she has a daughter, and a life,” Sheline said in a recent TikTok. The show’s host, Ariana Madix, also took a stand against cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying warning from Love Island

During the “Aftersun” episode on June 21, she called out viewers for “saying rude things” and “doxxing” the contestants. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a respectful and positive online environment and asked the audience to remember the human aspect of the participants’ lives. “Don’t be contacting people’s families.

Don’t be doxxing people. Don’t be going on Islanders’ pages and saying rude things,” Madix pleaded. She highlighted the communal experience of watching the show and urged fans to appreciate the contestants.

Season 7 of Love Island USA is currently streaming on Peacock. New episodes air nightly from Tuesday through Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, with no new episodes on Wednesdays. The show follows a group of singles who must pair off to stay in the luxury Fijian villa and compete for a $100,000 prize.

As the season progresses, the show continues to make headlines as some fans become too invested in the drama, leading to invasive behavior such as contacting islanders’ loved ones offscreen. The show’s producers and host are working to address this issue and maintain a positive viewing experience for all.
