Netflix’s new competition series “Million Dollar Secret” is set to premiere on March 26, and fans are already comparing it to the hit show “The Traitors.” The series, hosted by Peter Serafinowicz, will feature 12 strangers competing for a $1 million prize at a stunning mansion in Kelowna, Canada. The twist in “Million Dollar Secret” is that only one contestant will actually have the money, and they must keep it a secret from the others to take home the cash. The official trailer sets the scene, with a voice-over saying, “Finding $1m…
yours to keep if you can hide the fact you’ve won the money. Getting the million dollars is easy, but how far would you be willing to go to keep it?”
Fans quickly took to YouTube to compare the new show to “The Traitors,” a BBC series that became a fan favorite after it premiered in 2022. Comments highlighted the similarities between the two shows, with one fan stating, “This is a reality competition series, similar to ‘The Traitors,’ where contestants try to hide or discover who has a hidden million dollars.”
The contestants in “Million Dollar Secret” come from diverse backgrounds and professions, including a cook, a CEO, a builder, a photographer, a life coach, a construction worker, a stay-at-home mom, a retired escrow agent, a college professor, a police officer, a systems VP, and a medical sales rep.
Million Dollar Secret’s new twist
Throughout the series, the contestants will face various mind games and challenges designed to reveal clues about the millionaire’s identity. The show’s official synopsis reads, “This is a game of wit, cunning, and deception.
Twelve strangers enter a sumptuous lakeside estate, and in each of their rooms is a mysterious welcome gift — a box. Eleven of them are empty and one contains $1,000,000, and it’s for that guest to keep — as long as they keep their identity hidden. Devilish games will reveal clues about the millionaire’s identity, and they must do whatever it takes to keep their Million Dollar Secret.”
The eight-episode series will be released in three parts on Netflix.
The first three episodes will be available for streaming on March 26, followed by three more episodes on April 2, and the final two episodes on April 9. As fans eagerly await the premiere of “Million Dollar Secret,” many are excited to see how this new series will compare to the thrilling and deceptive gameplay of “The Traitors.”
