Jay-Z files defamation lawsuit against accuser

Jay-Z has filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who accused him of raping her when she was 13 years old. The woman, identified only as Jane Doe, made the allegations in a civil lawsuit filed in December. She claimed that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted her at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

However, Jane Doe withdrew her lawsuit last month after inconsistencies in her account were raised by Carter’s legal team. Jay-Z’s defamation suit, filed on Monday, claims that Jane Doe timed her accusation to inflict maximum pain and suffering on him in an attempt to extort payments. The lawsuit also names Jane Doe’s attorneys, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney.

It accuses them of being motivated by greed and disregarding the truth and fundamental human decency. According to Carter’s lawsuit, Jane Doe admitted to his representatives that the story was false. She allegedly said that Buzbee had coerced her into making the false accusations to extract settlement money.

In response, Tony Buzbee released a statement denying the claims made in Carter’s lawsuit. He accused Jay-Z’s investigators of harassing and intimidating Jane Doe. Buzbee stated that Jane Doe stood by her initial claims and that the quotes attributed to her in the lawsuit were fabricated or misattributed.

Despite withdrawing her lawsuit, Jane Doe filed a declaration electronically in a Los Angeles court on Monday. She alleged that she was approached at her home by two individuals on Friday, Feb.

21. They identified themselves as investigators working with an attorney on behalf of Jay-Z. Doe said the investigators asked her if she would be willing to sign an affidavit stating that her claims were false.

They also allegedly approached her mother and father, similarly asking them to sign affidavits refuting her claims. “I felt intimidated and terrified at being confronted by these two individuals on my doorstep, and that they knew my name and home address despite me being anonymous,” Doe said in her declaration. She asserted that fear of intimidation and retaliation from Jay-Z and his associates or fans is one of the reasons she chose not to pursue the New York lawsuit and instructed her attorneys to dismiss it.

However, she maintains that she stands by her claims against Jay-Z. The legal battle continues as both sides prepare to address these serious allegations in court. Jay-Z is seeking unspecified damages in his defamation suit.

His legal team argues that the claims in the since-dismissed New York lawsuit were “malicious” and “strategically and tactically calculated and timed.”
