Pete Davidson has opened up about his public image and how it does not always reflect his true feelings. In a recent interview, the 31-year-old comedian admitted he has been “fooling everyone” with a confident facade. “If you guys think I have confidence, I have been fooling everyone,” Davidson said.
He explained it is challenging for him to express himself without fear of being misunderstood. Davidson also spoke about how the death of his father in the 9/11 terrorist attacks profoundly impacted his life. “I had a really sh–ty childhood, and the worst thing that ever could have happened to me, happened when I was 7,” he shared.
The actor emphasized the importance of focusing on what truly matters and not succumbing to the pressures of fame. “At the end of the day, it’s like your family matters and your two or three friends that you have matter,” Davidson said. “I’ve kind of just been like, ‘F–k it.

Like, who the f–k cares?’ You know? And like, ‘F–k everyone.'”
Despite this straightforward stance, Davidson admitted he has neglected his own well-being in the past while trying to please others.
“Trying to be of service to others and not take care of myself, just trying to people please,” he said. Davidson noted his current mindset is relatively new and has been a process of personal growth. This change was evident when he recently went public with his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, in March.
He shared the experience has been different and positive, with support from his family. “This is sort of newer for me. But I think it kind of shows if you see me now … it’s a little different because I went through something pretty tough,” Davidson added.
He concluded by reiterating the importance of alleviating unnecessary pressure and focusing on genuine relationships. “And you don’t have to put all this pressure on yourself; everybody else can go f–k themselves,” Davidson said.
