Ghanaian gospel musician ACP Kofi Sarpong has shared touching memories about the late mother of Empress Gifty, Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan. ACP Kofi Sarpong reflected on the close bond he shared with the late Evangelist, who treated him as her own son. “She entertained everybody and for me, she called me a son.

Also, anyone who was close to Empress Gifty, Agaga took the person as her child. I will say, may her soul rest in peace because we will meet one day,” he said. ACP Kofi Sarpong extended his heartfelt condolences to his colleague, Empress Gifty.

“And to my sister Empress Gifty, I pray that the Lord will console her. There is an assurance that the Lord is with her,” he added. Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, affectionately known as ‘Agaga’, was born in 1954 and was known for her vibrant and warm personality.

Her influence extended beyond her family, as she was a beloved figure in her community and frequently appeared in TV commercials. The funeral ceremony, held at the Tema Community 8 school park, saw many from the creative arts industry, including ACP Kofi Sarpong, Kofi Kinaata, and Broda Sammy, coming together to pay their respects and console Empress Gifty. Evangelist Annan’s passing leaves a significant void, but her legacy of love and hospitality lives on through those she touched.

Various dignitaries, including Movement for Change leader Alan Kyerematen, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Stephen Wengam, and businessman Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, were present to pay their last respects.

Empress Gifty eulogized her late mother in a sorrowful tribute, singing a heartfelt song at the funeral. The event was not just a time of mourning but also a celebration of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan’s life and legacy. Performances from Gospel musicians such as Diana Hamilton, ACP Kofi Sarpong, Broda Sammy, and Diana Asamoah took place, followed by a strong performance from Highlife artiste Kofi Kinaata.

Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Mama Esther has dedicated a song to the late mother of her colleague, Empress Gifty. In a post shared by Zionfelix on January 16, 2025, Mama Esther expressed in her tribute song how the sudden passing of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, known as “Agaga,” has deeply affected her daughter, Empress Gifty. Mama Esther also acknowledged the shock and sorrow felt by many, including church members and those within the creative arts community, following Agaga’s untimely death.

Empress Gifty had announced the loss of her mother on December 14, 2024, via social media. Recently, Empress Gifty shared details about the funeral arrangements, revealing that her mother would be laid to rest on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Tema Community 8 school park. She also invited sympathizers to join her in mourning as she bids her final farewell to her beloved mother.
