Roadwork and travel advisories have been announced for several areas in Michigan, including I-96, US-23, and Ray Road. In Fenton Township, the Genesee County Road Commission will be conducting ditching and installing a culvert on Ray Road between Fenton Road and Main Road on Tuesday, April 15, from 7 am to 3:30 pm. The road will be closed to through traffic during this time, and motorists are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations.
In the Brighton area, there is a travel advisory for I-96. On Wednesday, April 16, from 9 am to 3 pm, westbound I-96 will have a double lane closure between Spencer Road and Grand River. This closure is needed to complete a traffic shift, which will result in two lanes of westbound I-96 moving to the eastbound I-96 roadbed.
By the end of the day Wednesday, all I-96 traffic between Chilson Road and Spencer Road is expected to be in its final configuration for the 2025 construction season. On US-23, there is also a travel advisory.
Travel advisories for road closures
On Wednesday, April 16, northbound US-23 will have one lane closed from M-36 (9 Mile) to Silver Lake Road for maintenance. This lane closure will be in effect from 7 am to 3 pm. Drivers can expect interruptions along U.S. 23 north of Ann Arbor this week.
The lane closure is part of ongoing maintenance work aimed at improving road conditions and enhancing safety for drivers. In the Genoa Township/Howell area, motorists should prepare for a ramp closure starting Monday. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced that the Latson Road ramp to eastbound I-96 will be closed for maintenance from 8 AM on Monday until 5 PM on Thursday.
During this period, traffic will be detoured via the Grand River (Lake Chemung) entrance ramp to eastbound I-96. Motorists in these areas are advised to plan for possible delays, seek alternative routes where possible, and exercise caution when traveling through construction zones.
