Blacc Sam, the older brother of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, has opened a new restaurant called Marathon Burger near Hussle’s Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles. The grand opening took place on March 1, 2025, and the restaurant aims to continue Nipsey Hussle’s legacy of inspiration and community empowerment. “The marathon continues,” Sam told CBS News Los Angeles.
“Anything that we can continue doing in that spirit is always a blessing.” He expressed his dedication to managing the business and assisting in the kitchen, drawing from the restaurant experience he and his brother gained in their youth. Marathon Burger, located on Melrose Avenue, offers a variety of menu items, including Wagyu beef burgers, wings, and vegan-friendly options such as a plant-based burger, portobello mushroom burger, and a grilled vegetable salad.
Marathon Burger: a legacy continues
The restaurant uses fresh, organic ingredients and makes its own pickles and vegan patties in-house. Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was tragically killed outside his Marathon Clothing store on March 31, 2019. The store, which opened on June 17, 2017, was an innovative “smart store” that combined a physical retail space with exclusive digital content accessible through an app.
In 2024, the Marathon brand expanded further with The Marathon Lion NFT Collection, featuring limited edition digital collectibles that offer members exclusive access to discounts, special product drops, and branded content. Blacc Sam’s Marathon Burger is a testament to Nipsey Hussle’s enduring influence and the continuation of his legacy built on community and self-empowerment. The restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. and is located at 7507 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, 90046.
