For the seventh consecutive week, ‘World News Tonight with David Muir’ has maintained its position as the top-rated evening newscast across all broadcast and cable networks. The ABC program attracted nearly 7.5 million viewers during the week of March 10, 2025, significantly outpacing its closest competitors. ‘World News Tonight’ garnered 7.492 million total viewers, leading NBC Nightly News by 1.378 million and CBS Evening News by 3.454 million viewers.
It remains the only evening newscast to experience year-over-year growth in key demographics, namely Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. ‘World News Tonight’ has ranked number one in total viewers for the ninth consecutive year. This season, its lead over NBC Nightly News has grown by 32% compared to the same point last season, marking the largest lead in 30 years.
World News holds strong lead
It also holds the top spot in both adult demographics for the sixth straight year, with substantial margins over NBC. During the week ending March 10, 2025, ‘World News Tonight’ drew 1.023 million viewers in the Adults 25-54 demographic and 700,000 in the Adults 18-49 demographic.
These figures reflect increases of 13% and 10% over NBC Nightly News in the same categories. Season to date, ‘World News Tonight’ is averaging 7.933 million total viewers, leading both NBC Nightly News and CBS Evening News by considerable margins. It is the only evening newscast showing improvements from the same point last season in both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 demographics.
