The Philadelphia Music Alliance has announced its honorees and inductees for the 2025 “Walk of Fame.” Among those being recognized is Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata for his contribution to the Philly Special Christmas albums. “This year’s honorees represent the spectacular talent that this city has birthed and nurtured, as well as the music that shines bright across Philadelphia and serves as this City’s heart and soul,” said Alan Rubens, chairman of the Philadelphia Music Alliance. The Philly Specials, a trio featuring Eagles players Mailata, Lane Johnson, and former center Jason Kelce, have captured the hearts of many with their popular Christmas albums.

Their latest, “A Philly Special Christmas Party,” featured collaborations with big names like Stevie Nicks, Boyz II Men, and Mt. Joy. The group has raised over $4 million for local charities with their albums. In addition to Mailata and the Philly Specials, the Philadelphia Music Alliance will honor Sir Bob Geldof in recognition of Live Aid’s 40th anniversary.

Other inductees include the late Stephen Sondheim, singer-songwriter Janis Ian, composer David Ludwig, hip hop artist Schoolly D, radio broadcaster David Dye, the Settlement Music School, and The Orlons.

Honorees announced for 2025 Walk

Those inducted will receive bronze plaques and join the other 150 members on the Walk of Fame along Broad Street’s Avenue of the Arts.

A dedication ceremony to reveal their plaques will take place on April 30 at 11:30 a.m.

The Walk of Fame Gala will be held later that night at Vie, 600 N. Broad Street, at 6 p.m. WMGK morning show host and Sixers announcer Matt Cord will host the event, which will feature a live performance from The Hooters, who were inducted in 2019. The gala promises to be a celebration of Philadelphia’s deep musical heritage.

The city has launched the careers of opera singers, jazz luminaries, and rock stars, and served as a recording site for a wide range of artists. “When I learned that an especially good singer or musician was from Philadelphia — the city I love — I became more excited, and my pride swelled,” said Sir Bob Geldof about recognizing local talent. The 2025 Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame Gala is a must-attend event for anyone passionate about Philadelphia’s musical history.
