Radiohead fans have reason to be excited as the acclaimed rock band has taken a key step that could signal new music is on the way for the first time in nearly a decade. The band registered a new limited liability partnership (LLP) under the name “RHEUK25” last week. This type of legal business entity allows the band to work outside the typical framework of a record label.
All five Radiohead members – Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien, and Philip Selway – are named in the new LLP paperwork. The band has done similar LLPs in the past before announcing new tour dates or releasing music. Radiohead took the same steps before releasing their last album, “A Moon Shaped Pool,” in 2016.
They also did it prior to releasing “The King of Limbs,” “Kid A Mnesia,” and 2007’s “In Rainbows.”
While the LLP strongly hints at new Radiohead activity, it’s not a guarantee. There’s a possibility it could lead to a different project involving the band members. Yorke has taken similar legal steps before releasing work with his other music projects, Atoms for Peace and The Smile.
Radiohead’s LLP hints at activity
However, those ventures also included his Radiohead bandmates. No other details about the purpose of RHEUK25 were immediately available.
But for Radiohead fans, the venture marks a promising step closer to the band potentially announcing a new record, tour, or reissue. The band also recently shared footage of Yorke performing solo at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto back in 1995. The 25-minute concert video was posted to mark the 30th anniversary of their album “The Bends,” fueling speculation of an anniversary reissue or tour.
Radiohead is one of the most acclaimed and influential rock bands of the past three decades. Known for their experimental, genre-pushing approach, they’ve released landmark albums like “OK Computer,” “Kid A,” and “In Rainbows.”
The band has won multiple Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Five of their albums have been named among Rolling Stone’s greatest albums of all time.
While it remains to be seen what exactly Radiohead has planned, the new business filing and anniversary activity have given their fervent fanbase plenty of reason to hope that the long wait for new music may soon be over.
