Al Ahly reveals design for new stadium

Al-Ahly SC, one of Egypt’s most successful football clubs, has unveiled the final design for its new stadium in a historic ceremony held at the Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor. The event was attended by club president Mahmoud El Khatib, members of the board of directors, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, and a delegation from FIFA. The stadium, which will be located in Al Ahly’s Sheikh Zayed branch, will have a seating capacity of 42,000 fans.

It will feature 72 elite “VVIP” suites, 80 luxurious “VIP” boxes, 73 premium suites, and official club stores. One of the most notable features of the stadium is its track-free design, which will bring fans closer to the action on the pitch. The North Stand, known as the fortress of the fans’ support, will accommodate 11,000 fans.

During the ceremony, El Khatib revealed that the stadium’s construction is set to be completed in 200 weeks, or approximately four years. He also signaled the start of excavation, marking the beginning of a new era for the club.

Al Ahly’s new stadium blueprint unveiled

The club had initially aimed for the stadium to accommodate at least 90,000 spectators. However, due to engineering constraints and aviation considerations, the permissible height above the ground in the stadium area is restricted to only 15 meters. To achieve a capacity of 42,000 spectators, the design includes significant excavation, digging an additional 15 meters underground.

The stadium is set to open in four years, following a timeline of precisely 199 weeks and six days from the date of the ceremony. The construction company responsible for the project is El Qalaa El Hamraa. In addition to football matches, the stadium will also be able to host concerts with a capacity of 57,797 attendees.

It will feature giant screens for match viewing, restaurants, cafés, and an entertainment zone for all ages, as well as a parking area with a large capacity for thousands of cars. The unveiling of the new stadium plans marks a significant milestone for Al Ahly SC as they move forward with creating a modern, state-of-the-art facility that will cater to both sports and entertainment events.
