ARCOmadrid 2025 kicks off with 214 galleries

The 44th edition of ARCOmadrid, one of the world’s most prestigious contemporary art fairs, kicked off on March 5, 2025. The event brings together 214 galleries from 36 countries, transforming Madrid into an international hub for cutting-edge art. This year’s fair features a diverse range of sections and programs.

The General Programme showcases the strength of the Spanish art scene, with galleries like 1 Mira Madrid, Alarcón Criado, and ProjecteSD participating. International galleries, such as carlier | gebauer, are also present. Curated sections add depth to the fair.

“Wametisé: Ideas for an Amazofuturism,” curated by Denilson Baniwa and María Wills, explores hybrid existences between human, vegetal, physical, and metaphysical bodies. Artists like Carlos Jacanamijoy and newcomers Naine Terena and Coletivo Mahku are featured.

ArcoMadrid 2025: Unveiling contemporary art

The “Opening. New Galleries” section, curated by Cristina Anglada and Anissa Touati, showcases innovative works from young galleries. Blue Velvet, Eins Gallery, Callirrhoë, El Chico, and Brigitte Mulholland are among the 18 participants.

“Profiles/Latin American Art,” curated by José Esparza Chong Cuy, strengthens ties between ARCOmadrid and Latin American art. Galleries present single artist exhibitions, including works by Bárbara Sánchez Kane, Barbara Wien, and Chaveli Sifre. Special features include the Artist Projects segment, showcasing works from 32 galleries by notable artists like Etel Adnan, Katinka Bock, Karlos Gil, and Francisco Fino.

ArtsLibris also returns, featuring over 80 publishers from 20 countries and a series of book presentations. ARCOmadrid 2025 promises a rich and diverse display of contemporary art, ensuring a memorable experience for art enthusiasts, collectors, and professionals. The fair runs until March 9 at the IFEMA Madrid Exhibition Center.
