Cameron Diaz is back on the big screen in the new Netflix movie “Back In Action.” The film marks her return to acting after a decade-long hiatus. Diaz stars alongside Jamie Foxx in this action-comedy directed by Seth Gordon. During a recent appearance, Diaz revealed that Foxx played a significant role in her decision to return to Hollywood.

“I had 10 years of not paying attention to anything,” she said. “Not accepting any advances and then I got this script and thought that maybe it was time.”

Diaz had high praise for her costar, stating, “If I was going to leave my family for 10 hours a day, I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment business.” The pair have a long history, having costarred together in “Any Given Sunday” in 1999 and “Annie” in 2014. Despite the star power of Diaz and Foxx, the film has received mixed reviews.

Critics have given it a disappointing 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences have been slightly more forgiving with a 64% score.

Cameron Diaz’s acting comeback

The movie follows former CIA spies Emily and Matt as they are forced back into the world of espionage after their secret identities are compromised.

Diaz, who began her career as a model before starring in hit movies like “There’s Something About Mary,” has kept busy during her time away from the screen. In addition to being a wife and mother, she is also a successful author and businesswoman. “I loved those 10 years for me and my family,” she said of her hiatus.

“But I thought, ‘If I let this go away, if I don’t engage again, and if I don’t give it a chance, I am a fool.'”

Diaz expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to acting, saying, “It is a privilege to make films, and we are all so lucky to do what we do. That the door was even open for me after a decade was amazing.”

While “Back In Action” may not be the triumphant return some fans were hoping for, it marks a new chapter in Diaz’s career. The actress also has another project in the works, a black comedy titled “Outcome” for Apple TV+, in which she will star alongside Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill, who will also direct the film.
