CNN is making significant changes to its daytime and afternoon lineup. Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer, and Kasie Hunt will have new time slots. Wolf Blitzer will move to mornings to anchor “The Situation Room” with Pamela Brown at 10 a.m. ET.
Jake Tapper’s show will shift to the 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET time frame. Kasie Hunt will host a new show at 4 p.m. ET. CNN This Morning will now air at 6 a.m. ET with Audie Cornish.
Rahel Solomon will take over the 5 a.m. ET slot with “5 Things.”
CNN Worldwide CEO Mark Thompson announced plans to focus more on digital platforms.
Cnn’s new daytime lineup shuffle
The network will cut some workforce positions but plans to hire 100 new employees in digital roles.
CNN is also working on a new streaming service and an online site for lifestyle coverage. The launch date for the new lineup has not been announced. The network said new programming would start in the coming weeks.
It is not clear what role Jim Acosta will have next. His current morning show is being replaced. CNN offered Acosta the midnight ET slot, which would likely move the show to Los Angeles and give it international exposure.
