General Hospital actor Jonathan Jackson takes break

Jonathan Jackson, who plays Lucky Spencer on the long-running soap opera “General Hospital,” is taking a brief hiatus from the show. During his absence, Guy Wilson, known for his role as Will Horton on “Days of Our Lives,” will temporarily fill in as Lucky starting February 18. A spokesperson for “General Hospital” confirmed that Wilson will appear as Lucky in a handful of episodes.

Jackson is already back filming and is expected to return to the show later this month. This is not Wilson’s first time on “General Hospital.” In March 2006, he played a teenage version of Luke, Lucky’s father, in a fantasy sequence. Wilson gained attention in the daytime scene in 2014 when he took on the role of Will Horton on “Days of Our Lives,” transitioning from three-time Daytime Emmy-winner Chandler Massey.

Jonathan Jackson’s brief hiatus

Jackson originated the character of Lucky in 1993. After his initial run ended in 1999, the role was taken over by Jacob Young and then Greg Vaughan.

Jackson returned from 2009-11, made a brief appearance in 2015, and rejoined the cast again in August 2024. Currently, Lucky has been growing closer to his ex-wife Elizabeth Webber as they adjust to life in Port Charles and investigate the recent murders of Sam McCall and Dex Heller. “General Hospital” celebrated over 60 years on the air as of April 2024, continuing to be a staple in daytime television.

The show holds the record for the most Outstanding Daytime Drama award wins, having taken home the Emmy award 15 times.
